Day School Admissions

Interested families should email or call 510-652-4722. Parents can talk about their desires and concerns, and learn more about the structure, philosophy, and daily life at PBA. Come for a tour during school where you can meet the staff, visit classes, hear the choir sing, and learn more about the school and its graduates.

Musical experience is not a prerequisite for admission; it is enough that a boy enjoys music, takes pleasure in singing, experimenting with sound, or just likes listening. If a boy has a good ear, then he can learn to sing. A brief audition to determine a boy's musical potential is a routine part of the admissions process. Our music faculty excels in training young boys to become accomplished singers. Learn more about the day school and our academic programs by browsing the menu items on the left.

Tuition for the 2017-2018 school year is $23,000 for grades 4 & 5 and $24,000 for grades 6-8. Tuition does not include the Extended Day Program, tours, or camps.

Schedule a Student Classroom Visit Day and Audition

We invite boys to spend one full school day at PBA. These visits give boys a genuine experience of what the school offers academically, musically and socially. From observing boys in ordinary classroom activities, our faculty has a firmer basis for determining if a boy can flourish as a student at PBA.

During the course of their visits, boys will have a brief audition, and will complete a set of academic assessments. We feel strongly that this visit makes our admissions process as comprehensive as possible, allowing families and our admissions team to arrive at fully informed decisions.
We also encourage families to join us for some portion of our weekly Monday night dinners and rehearsals. Rehearsals are 6:00-6:45pm, with dinner 6:45-7:30pm. Our high school alumni join for rehearsal 7:30-8:30pm. Come watch, participate, and meet the staff and students.
