March 1st, 4:30-6:00pm
No formal audition is required for Prelude classes (PreK and Kindergarten), but there is a cap on the class size. Their second semester begins February 1, 2017. Please inquire about availability with Jonathon Hampton, Associate Director of Music and Outreach at 510-652-4722 x5 or email Hampton@PacificBoychoirAcademy.org
Come for a tour, sit in on rehearsals, talk to staff and parents, and see the boys in action. Though a musical background is helpful, Pacific Boychoir does not require new students to have previous musical experience. The purpose of the audition is to determine:
- range of voice
- ability to hear high and low pitches
- ability to match rhythmic patterns
- level of interest in music
- willingness to learn
Pacific Boychoir Academy is looking for boys in grades Pre K-12 who like to sing. Currently, there are around 130 boys in the after school program and 40 in the day school. After-school choristers rehearsal Wednesdays with advanced choirs rehearsing Mondays as well. We gives boys the opportunity to become professional singers, to sing with other choirs, on recordings, with orchestras, and for audiences across the country and around the world.
The educational benefits of music have been well-documented. With music as a vehicle, boys also learn responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and the value of striving for excellence. Though it takes some hard work, singing in PBA fun and provides once-in-a-lifetime opportunities!
To be a successful chorister, a boy needs
- Wednesday afternoon availability for after-school choirs
- An interest in singing
- A desire to be the best possible at something
We'll take care of the rest!
