July 4, 2005 (Monday) — Happy Fourth of July!

We've sorted things out so we have a wireless network with high speed internet here in the dorm. The photos are transferred wirelessly, so between Apple and Adobe we can do this pretty quickly. We've got this down to a system now, just in time to leave. Who knows what we'll have in Iowa.

Someone else beat us to singing the US National Anthem at breakfast. That's okay; we were too sleepy still to sing. We had some morning rehearsals, then Ensemble Amarcord from Leipzig did a concert before lunch. We gathered our things and then boarded a bus for our afternoon's activities. We stopped at a grocery store to pick up a snack for th ride to Eagan, MN, where we were headed for the water park. It was about a two hour drive, so we had a rest period, taked some about Iowa and France, and decided to change our system so that while we have everybody together we'd elect next year's Troubador officers on tour. We got to Eagan and swam for a while, then had a hot dog lunch, then swam some more. At 6:30 we headed to Applebees for a nice sit-down dinner. Our camp counselor Ian, who now lives in Minneapolis, stopped by to say hello. We had planned to see the fireworks in St. Cloud, but dinner took too long for us to make it there, so at 10pm we stopped in Big Lake, Minnesota (population 6026) and watched the fireworks over Big Lake from the park at the lake. We boarded the bus and headed back to St John's to rest before our last day of the festival.

Not only was it Independence Day, but also Pam's birthday. She got a giant poster about music signed by all the boys and of course we all sang.
