July 11, 2005 (Monday) — To Chartres!

We had our usual meeting at the conservatory in the morning. After loading the bus we headed for Chartres, about a two hour drive. We got out of the city and got so see some of the countryside, as well as the TGV bullet train. Upon arrival, we had lunch at a local restaurant, where we also celebrated Eric's birthday. We got our things and walked up to the cathedral. We had to totally change our plan since it wasn't really working to sing with the organ, and we had onyl about eight minutes to adjust to the space. They gave us the keys to the crypt as a changing space. The concert went fairly well, particular considering the amount of rehearsal time we had. We got lots of compliments. There was a guy from the local Early Music festval there, as well as a reporter from the newspaper, and locals and even people from America that we didn't know. Maybe about 350 people. No photos from inside the cathedral since all the people taking photos were busy singing or conducting, buyt we've got some video.
After, the concert we headed back to Levallois and the boys had dinner with their host families and spent the night there.
