July 15, 2005 (Friday?) — On to Normandy

We had an early wakeup to get on our bus and head to Normandy. It was about a three hour drive. We had lunch in downtown Caen in chaperone groups with our bus parked at the City Hall, by William the Conquerer's local castle. We changed and headed to the Peace Museum. The acoustics were awful but we sang well. We got to look through the museum before and after the concert. The audience was very enthusiatic, giving us a standing ovation, which we hear has never happened for a choir at the museum. A woman who was 13 when the American liberated her village write us a note on a PBA program. We'll try to get a translation on the web and will bring the program home. Dinner at the hotel and to bed. Tomorrow we head to Mont St Michel and Omaha Beach.
