Michael Kwett

History & Math

Mr. Kwett received his BA with Honors in Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley, and has previously studied Political Science, French, and German at UC Santa Cruz and Université Lumière Lyon-II in Lyon, France. As an experienced math and humanities tutor and teacher, Mr. Kwett works closely with each student to help develop their reading, writing, analytical and critical thinking abilities. Mr. Kwett is especially interested in methods of teaching history through the analysis of primary sources, from the Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh to seventeenth-century European novels and early American political texts. Along with thoughtful reading and discussion, his history curriculum includes a substantial component of analytical and creative writing. Mr. Kwett also teaches 7th- and 8th-grade math, with an emphasis on algebra and statistical reasoning, and provides IT support for the school.
