Mr. Gabri received a BA in Literature at UC Santa Cruz and an MA in English Literature at San Francisco State. He is now in his final year in the Ph.D. program in Comparative Literature at Northwestern University. Prior to entering the Ph.D. program, where he has acquired extensive experience teaching undergraduates, Mr. Gabri taught elementary and middle school in San Francisco for over ten years. One of his specialties is the teaching and production of Shakespeare's plays in middle school.
Mr. Gabri has dedicated most of his adult life to working with young people. He believes in active reading and writing; he encourages students to constantly question and not take texts at face value. He links literature and history by underlying themes such as power or inequality. An accomplished actor, he relishes introducing middle schoolers to Shakespeare and inspiring them to give nuanced and creative performances.
