July 13, 2007— to Soave

We caught a lot of traffic on the way to Soave, a walled medieval city in the Veneto region. We took a walk around town for a bit, then got our clothes for our rehearsal and our concert. The local men's choir, directed by Maestro Rinaldi, did a set of pieces to open the concert. We had good acoustics and had a great performance of the Barber Agnus Dei, even though a lot of younger guys looked tired. Again, people wander in liesurely, and by 9:30 (concert started at 9pm) the cathedral had a lot of people in it. It's been quite hot and humid, so we're going to perform in slipshots more, and not concert uniform, which may be contributing to the wilting of some less sturdy boys. Tomorrow we perform outside and we'll try slipshots for Troubadors.

The mayor of Soave was at the concert and we got gifts from both the town and the local choir. After the concert, the concert presenters gave us an outdoor dinner.
