July 15, 2007— to Verona and Sirmione

In the morning we took an excursion to Verona, old Roman town and home of Romeo and Juliet. We do an hour of sightseeing and then an hour of free time in chaperone groups, just like yesterday. We had a big lunch again, then we returned to the hotel for rest peroid and some free/swim time. After a snack, we hopped on the bus to return to the south end of Lake Garda for a concert in Sirmione. As is becoming customary, the audience trickles in over 30 minutes, and the place was eventually full. The men's choir from Soave started the concert again. We sang well, though the Barber Agnus Dei was not as good as two nights ago. The choir looked good, and perhaps we've hit the proper balance of sugar during the day to get people properly alert by concert time. We got another post-concert reception and then stopped at one of the many gelaterias for some gelato on the way out of the town. Tomorrow we head to Pordenone and our homestays.
