July 19, 2007— to Roma

Today was pretty much all on the bus, the long drive to Roma. We had a rest period straight away, then a rest stop about 10am. After the rest stop we did Head Boy nominations. Marcia has been doing little quizzes on the things we've learned from Luigi about Italian culture, geography, and history, and we did another of those quizzes. We stopped at another of the Autogrills for lunch, where it was 104 degrees. But it wasn't nearly as humid ad Pordenone, so it was almost pleasantly hot.

Then right into Roma. We checked in to the hotel in record time, then to a dinner near our concert venue. Just in the few blocks on the way to dinner, we caught a glimpse of the Vatican, the Coliseum, and other buildings from virtually every archutectural style over the last 2000 years. It's an amazing city with lots of history.

We had dinner at the Strega ("witch") pizzeria where we also sang Happy Birthday to Jonathan. Afterwards we headed two blocks around the corner to rehearse at our concert venue. St Paul's within the walls. The crowd was not particularly large, but the choir was sounding good and we were all pleased with the product. Back to the hotel to bed since we have an early morning to tour the Vatican Museum.

Our Head Boy nominees are Zander, Devin, Max, Henry, and Malcolm. We'll vote in a few days.
