Today we had a tour of Gubbio, a medieval town on the side of a mountain. The town's buildings are all hundreds of years old, and we walked around thinking the town probably hadn't changed much in 300 or 400 years. At lunchtime we took a ski lift thingie up to the top of the mountain. It had a great view and we had lunch (And gelato of course!) on the top of the mountain.
Here are a couple videos from Mr. Kula showing the not-quite funicular ski lift thing:

After a rest period at the hotel and some play time and dinner, we got ready for our concert in Gubbio as part of the Gubbio Summer Music Festival. The concert was packed, and it went well. The elusive first note of the Barber Agnus Dei was amazing. We returned to the hotel for the night. Back to Lake Garda tomorrow.
At dinner we continued a tradition we established quite by accident for Jonathan by having people get up to say nice things about the birthday boy at dinner. He got a copy of Harry Potter from his mom for his birthday. There comes a time on tour when you no longer wait until you get home to do certain things (like buy Harry Potter or trim your nails, which I think happened on the same day) and then you feel not just that you're on a trip, but that you're living on the road. Washing your underwear in a sink can give you that sense as well I guess. Maybe it's because I was on a tour last month or maybe because we've had a lot of stops but this tour seems long to me. Not as long as Vienna or Boni Pueri who do six-week tours, but I really feeel like we've gotten into a rhythm. Page has done a great job setting the schedule.
We also started a tradition of taking a photo of the audience at concerts. Thanks to Matt Violet, you can see and we can remember what the audience looked like in Gubbio.
