July 5, 2004 (Monday)— Prague

Mr Brown practices his Czech with the host choir. (4.8MB)
movie provided by Mr Kula

We met in the morning and took a bus into downtown Prague. There we boarded a boat to see Prague from the river. We got to see the Charles Bridge, old government buildings, the state theatre, and Dvorak Hall where we will be performing with the festival on July 15. We even saw the church Mozart was visiting when he wrote the oepra Don Giovanni. We got off the boat and walked through a park that had painted cows from different countries. We hiked up the hill to Petrin Tower, which we thought looked a lot like the Eiffel Tower. Most of us climbed to the top, where there was a great view.

After the tower, we headed to Prague's planetarium for a show in English. We hopped back on the bus, and took a nap on the way back to Klanovice. We had dinner with the host families, then a short concert with the children of the host choir. Matte's introduction in Czech got more applause than any of the songs! Tomorrow we head to Hradec Kralove.
