June 24, 2005 (Friday) –Los Angeles

Sure, other tours have their stories….others have even had some set backs…but this might just have to top the list of best tour fiascoes ever!

Dr. Hun Cho, a former Oaklander, gave us a tour of L.A.’s Chinatown. One noticeable difference about L.A.’s Chinatown from other cities’ Chinatowns: you can actually find parking!

Uhh……

Inside a Taoist temple

The statue is the Taoist god of music…so we had no choice but to throw some boys in front of it and take a picture.

One noticeable similarity between L.A.’s Chinatown and other cities’ Chinatown: it doesn’t look anything like the rest of the city.

Then our bus bottomed out leaving the parking lot…see how the rear wheels’ suspension is completely compressed? We tried throwing anything we could find under the drive wheels, but there was no budging it.

Luckily we could wave down a deputy, he helped us control traffic around the bus (notice that our bus is covering both lanes in one direction…we later found out that this is a major thoroughfare).

Our friend the deputy called for back up…they cut off the road we were stuck on, causing some serious traffic. You can’t see from this picture, but we were blocking traffic all the way from Pasadena into L.A., creating a line of cars several miles long. Eventually they had to bring in a traffic marshal to help clean up the mess we created.

It became very clear to us that in order to endure such a strenuous situation, it was imperative that we come at it calmly and with a clear head…’cause when the going gets tough, the tough get massages!

Andrew really saved us by taking charge and keeping the boys relaxed in this most unfortunate situation. I think this takes our tour motto “Be flexible” to a whole new level…

*No choirboys were hurt in the making of this fiasco.
