October 16, 2008— to Kecskemet

The countryside between Gyor and Kecskemet is beautiful. There are crops, castles, and we even saw the "Hungarian Sea." The roads to Kecskemet have a lot of tractors, slow trucks, and even bicyclists, and wht we thought was going to be a 2.5-hour ride was actually over four hours. We're seeing all sorts of interesting things like Soviet-era vehicles, concrete lamp and electrical posts, and a mountain that said "Bob" on it. We did as much academics as we could along the way.

We got to Kecskemet, got a quick tour of the town centre, then went back to the school to hear a music recital, then met the families from the boys choir for our first billet stay.

It's always interesting to see what's on the cameras when they get unloaded each night. The cameras get passed around, and we've long abandoned photo credits since so often we have no idea who's taken the photos. Ian carries the Sony, but a lot of the boys and staff borrow the camera, so you really get a diverse set of viewpoints.
