June 19, 2008— in Victoria

Hampton, Mr. Tarango and I woke up early again to go jogging, but right as we were about to leave, it started raining. Given how cold it was the day before, we weren't that keen on being cold and wet as well, having wet clothes around our room. We did our exercising on the porch as the sun came up. It's winter, so the sun comes up about 7:30pm and goes down at about 6:30pm.

Not content with simply conjuring up a helicopter the day before, Pam came into rehearsal to tell us a TV and radio crew was on its way. The hotel called tohe local TV station to tell them they had to come hear us. Hernan got a call for us to sing at the main church on the square in Victoria for a warmup concert. With one day's notice, they had some school kids lined up to come and wanted to use the TV to spread the word.

After lunch and a rest period we headed to Victoria, past the blockade, which somehow doesn't seem to affect us. It was raining and quite cold at the town square. The church for our impromptu concert had amazing acoustics. We had about 30 minutes to tape things down (Chris does a great job as always, especially considering we had tape in three locations) and check the acoustics. We were supposed to sing for 30-40 minutes and ended up singing for an hour. After the concert, all sorts of people wanted to talk to us, and the schoolgirls wanted to talk to the boys. There were music teachers that drove as much as 100km to be there and they gave us lots of kisses and said we needed to visit their town.

We had to leave eventually since our evening tea was waiting for us. After tea, we ahd packing time, then some more rehearsal time to get a last check on things before hitting the road. Dinner was meat and potatoes and the prefects teaching us how to properly use a toothpick. Tomorrow the bus rolls at 6:30am for us to head to Cordoba.

During morning break, Mr. Tarango leads a blues contest in the lobby. Jacob sings.
