Since we had a late night and ate late, we skipped early breakfast and hopped on the bus at 10am for our trip to Jacksonville. Along the way, we did academics and noted the flatness of the terrain. Lots of corn. That's pretty much it. By 11am we were hungry and tried to find a place to eat, but there was literally nothing but corn and occasional rest stops with vending machines along I55 until Bloomington. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel there, where they invited us right in. They were very busy. We figured most of the boys would have never seen a Cracker Barrel before, just Crate & Barrel. The brunch break was longer than we wanted, but the boys got to shop in the general store, and we got some good food. After lunch we had a rest period until we got to Jacksonville. When we arrived in Jacksonville, we took our bags to the rooms, and the adults checked the garment bags while Mr. Brown organized a game of soccer.
We had a fairly long rehearsal in the chapel at Illinois College. The chapel has very generous acoustics for the boys' voices, especially the sopranos. A great place for a first concert. After rehearsal we got dinner at the campus center: dozens of choices and all you can eat! After dinner we changed into concert uniform and did the first half of our concert. At halftime we changed into ninja shirts and finished out the concert. The concert went pretty well. The audience gave us a standing ovation. The singing was pretty good, but we looked a tad sloppy on stage here and there. Things we can tidy up before our next concert. Thanks to Gregory's grandparents, we got some cookies after the concert. Back to the AmeriHost Inn for bedtime.
