in São Paulo

7:15 wakeup

8:00 breakfast (buffet!)

After leaving the hotel, we headed to the futbal stadium SPFC: Sao Paulo Futbal Club. We walked through the team trophy rooms and took some photos. We were told we might be able to get on the field, but the team was there, so instead we got to watch them practice. As far as we could tell, we were the onlly ones there besides the team. We took our first off-stage group photo (I think) of the tour. Some choirs assemble for group photos quickly, and we've never been good at that, which I think is why we don't do many of those kinds of photos. Tucson does it in seconds.

Since Brasil is known for the rain forests, it should be no surprise they've got a snake "museum" (?) where they do some of the leading research into antivenom. We got to see a bunch of snakes behind glass, along with some other reptiles and spiders. They also have some monkeys and we went to say hello to them as well.

We're getting to know the sstandard choices at the food courts at the local malls pretty well. It's a good way to spend not a lot of money and give a lot of choices to people. My group, along with Peter, Tim V, and Bryan, all went to Chinese foood (buffet!), which was pretty good. The mall was full of businesspeople (and lot sof security, naturally).

We returned to the hotel to change for the concert.

The Banco do Brasil building is quite interesting (we took some photos inside later). Their theatre, on the fourth floor, is rather small and awkwardly-shaped. The stage crew was excellent on setup and lighting, but it was a difficult concert given the venue, and quite hot as well. All things considered, the boys sang very well, though a couple overheated and had to walk off near the end. The Banco took the cake for security, and I even started taking photos of the various security detail we keep seeing. We had a guard just for our storage room. Why lock it when you can put somebody with an earpiece and a dark suit outside it? The Banco kindly provided some refreshments in the dressing room (down a floor backstage) for the boys. I also met the cultural attache from the US Consulate who was at the concert. She enjoyed the concert and said she was sorry the consulate wasn't able to help us financially since we got in touch with them at the end of their fiscal year.

From the Banco, we went back to the hotel for dinner. We couldn't get a room to rehearse after dinner, so we talked through the concert and had a general meeting instead. During the meeting, Mr. Tarango and Peter cooked up a scavenger hunt for the boys, with a Continuum singer as captain of each group. No elevators allowed, and only the youngest member of the group could walk across the lobby to submit answers. Show the judges a pair of clean underwear, show tomorrow's uniform, complete a puzzle. The front desk staff was cracking up.
