July 20, 2006—Thursday
in Miami

Slept in. We were going to go to the beach, but thunder and lightning required Plan B. We started with the Headboy speeches. Each candidate had two minutes plus a one-minute setup by an advocate of their choosing.

We did free dress, which means most guys wore some sort of Brasil shirt. I'm surprised there are any shirts left in Brasil.

We were told the malll was a 15-minute walk, but discovered people don't walk anywhere so not only was the mall not even close to a 15-minute walk, it wasn't even accessible by foot. We walked some of the way before discovering this, then hopped on a city bus to take us to Aventura Mall. We all went to see Pirates II. It's fun to be in the theatre with 50 people you know. After, Pam worked out a deal for us to eat at Johnny Rockets. They asked us to sing and they gave us a good discount, so we sang Ain'a That Good News for them. (The first time PBA has sung on this tour since Brasil, the first time PBA has sung in Florida since 2000.) The staff and other guests screamed and applauded.

We came back, went to the beach. The beach here has a lot more junk on it that the beaches we visited in Brasil.

We did our Headboy runoff, had Chinese food for dinner, then to bed.
