Michael McNeil

Michael McNeil joined PBA as Executive Director in 2022 after serving on the Board of Directors. His role follows 20 years as an Environmental/Energy Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, where he ran the Mexico Energy Initiative in support of the country’s Environmental and Sustainability goals. Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley and Ph.D. from U.C. Santa Cruz, both in Physics. 

Michael’s new role is driven by a love of the PBA organization and appreciation for the enrichment it’s provided to his own family and his community of Oakland. Michael’s son, Forrest, began singing with PBA at the age of 4 as a Prelude chorister; he is now a seventh-year chorister and 5th grader in the PBA’s Day School. Outside of work, Michael, Forrest and his mom Jenner love camping, fine cheeses and Minecraft.
