PBA’s Youngest Students Try Out Big Business
Ridgeway Avenue’s newest small business began as an elementary mathematics lesson. Working with recipes provides a perfect opportunity to add and multiply fractions, and a pizza is the perfect visual display of how one whole can be divided into smaller fractional parts. Ever since November, PBA’s 3rd and 4th grade students have wrestled with these mathematical concepts while building their own pizza company on PBA’s campus, providing weekly optional pizza lunches for other students, selling whole pizzas for takeout on Tuesdays, and even catering a parent event. Sorella’s May 1st Concert

On May 1, our Sorella choristers did a fabulous job representing the “Girls program” at PBA! They performed at the beautiful Littlefield Concert Hall on the Mills College campus alongside my Mills College Choir in repertoire ranging from Schubert to the Beatles. It was such a joy to see and hear these treble voices of all ages sing together! This collaboration is something I hope to build and maintain throughout the years. Congratulations, Sorella for such a successful event!

PBA’s Mother’s Day Concert

This was my first year coming to a Continuum Mother’s Day Concert. I, just like the parents, was blown away by the performance. Even though I’m working on music for up coming concerts myself, Continuum is working on music through just about all the eras of classical music. Mr. Blum created an exceptional concert of music starting with a Renaissance piece “Sicut Cervus” and ending with the modern, a Continuum classic, “Here Comes the Sun.” There were a series of solos featuring almost every boy. It was beautiful to witness. The whole audience was touched by the performance. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and mother figures! ~ Reported by Cadence Strange

How does a group of 3rd-8th grade boys put on a three-hour, breathtakingly thrilling, romantic tragedy with less than 3 months to rehearse? Well, according to the laughter and gasps from the nightly full house, they do it PERFECTLY.
