Welcome memo

Your daughter will be invited to participate in small group work during the season. Small groups are focused, 4-participant classes held directly after rehearsal (6:15-6:45pm) where choristers work on music theory and get extra attention from faculty.

Links to signup for small group are in Curacubby will be on the Sorella teacher page in Gradelink and at pba.iVolunteer.com. Choristers are encouraged to sign up for one small group each month. If a spot remains available the day of rehearsal, it is open to any chorister that registers for it.

Rehearsal

Sorella choristers are required to attend all rehearsals: Tuesdays, 4:15 pm – 6:15 pm (2 hrs). If your child is ill and will be absent, please email attendance@pacificboychoir.org or leave a message at 510-652-4722, x16 by noon of the rehearsal day. If a chorister is to miss a rehearsal for anything other than sickness, please contact the director at least two weeks ahead to discuss that rehearsal. For rehearsals that fall on holidays, two weeks notice must be given for an absence to be excused.

What to wear & bring

Choristers are required to wear either a teal or white  Sorella polo shirt or black Sorella camp t-shirt to rehearsal. Choristers should dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Please bring a water bottle. Choristers are provided a Sorella music bag, theory card and Notespeller workbook. Please have them bring these tools for learning to all future rehearsals. They should have 4 pencils in their music bag at all times.

Drop Off/Pick Up

The gate code is 1789X. Street parking is available and there is curbside drop-off directly in front of the school. Please do not double-park and leave your vehicle. You may drop your daughter off any time after 4pm, inside the gate. Late students should head straight back to the rehearsal room where the class is held. Winter Retreat

Sorella/2 choristers are required to attend an overnight retreat in February. Retreat is a great opportunity to make progress on theory cards, learn a lot of music quickly, learn responsibility, and build friendships with other Sorella & Sorellina singers across ensemble boundaries.

Summer Camp

Choristers are encouraged to attend our week-long Summer day camp in July. Girls spend half their day on music technique and theory, and take fun day trips in the second half of the day. Past activities have included Crab Cove, MOCHA, Tilden Little Farm, bowling, swimming, and a campfire on the final day.
