The Pacific Boychoir Academy (PBA) was founded in 1998 by Artistic Director Emeritus Kevin Fox, Marcia Roy, Stella Brown and Pamela Weimer. The PBA now serves over 150 choristers and alumni in seven choirs. PBA has earned three GRAMMY Awards with the San Francisco
Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. In addition, the PBA was honored with an award for their work in performing American Spirituals.
With the addition of a day school in 2004, PBA is now the only choir school in the Western United States. The choir school integrates a full academic curriculum with 2 hours of daily music instruction for boys in grades 3-8.
PBA purchased its campus in August 2021, which includes a theater, choir room, 8 classrooms and a music library, and has launched a capital campaign to improve and expand the site.
The Board wants to name the music library “The Doug Neslund and Bob Rogers Music Library” in honor of their huge contribution of sheet music, inherited from the California Boys Choir in Los Angeles which Doug founded, and for consulting with the PBA music staff in the early years, helping them develop the PBA sound and encouraging them to build Mr. Fox’s vision for a trained boychoir located in Oakland, CA.
Please give generously to raise $50,000 for The Doug Neslund and Bob Rogers Music Library at PBA.
