The Online Digital Program is an online course for boys and girls, held over a 10 week period.

In order for the students to use the Ableton software,
they will need to have a computer with the following capacity:
Windows 7, 8 or 10
MAC OS X 10.11.6 or later
4 GB RAM (8 GB or more recommended for MAC and PC)

What is being taught exactly? What is the course curriculum?

All participants will learn how to create electronic music like hip hop, EDM, and trap using Ableton Live. Everyone who signs up will receive a free license of the Ableton Live music production software and access to the Young Producers Group online curriculum (53 proprietary videos, 38 assessments, 30 games and activities, glossaries, readings, and info graphics).

What is the recommended age group?

The course is aimed at high school age 13 and older

What level musically are students expected to be at?

The Young Producers Group is designed for beginning and intermediate students.

What days and time will the course be held each week?

The course is held across 10 weeks, Oct. 13 through Dec. 22 2020 (with Thanksgiving Day off).

Live Zoom classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 to 5pm PST with a certified YPG instructor. Students will be able to interact with the instructor, and discuss and share their own music.

There will be a live Zoom launch with YPG Founder, Lawrence Grey on Tuesday Oct. 13th. The instructor will also meet with the students mid-session, and then will host a Zoom listening party at the end of the workshop for participants, family, friends, and interested audiences. The final live listening party will take place on Tuesday December 22, from 4 to 5 PM.

Students can work on the instructional videos in their own time and at their own pace.

Do students have to be logged in at the required times each week?

In order to get the most out of the course, students need to be present twice a week for the live Zoom classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 5pm PST. This is so that students can interact with the instructor, discuss and share their music projects.

What happens if a class is missed? How to catch up?

If students miss a live class, they will have access to the Young Producers Group instructor’s email and will be able to ask questions about their assignments. The instructional videos are designed for independent learning.

Is the Ableton software provided to each student of the course?

After students register with an email address, they will be able to install the Ableton software and YPG video curriculum on to their computers (must have Windows 7, 8, or 10 or MAC OS X 10.110.6 or later with at least 4 GB RAM – 8 GB or more recommended).

What level are students expected to be at regarding computer usage? Is any Ableton software experience required?

No experience is necessary.
