Admissions at PBA – Enrollment still open for 2023-24 School Year!

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family will make.  We encourage families to thoroughly get to know Pacific Boychoir Academy before making the decision to enroll.  Furthermore, we would like to know you and your son as well as possible so that we can customize his educational, social and emotional needs. Admissions at PBA is series of several easy steps that help ensure a good fit.

  Virtual Information Nights

Attending a Virtual Info Night is often the first step in getting to know PBA, and letting us get to know your family. Virtual Info Nights allow parents and guardians to learn more about PBAs academic and music programs, what we offer, and our unique approach and philosophy of boys’ education. Hosted by our Executive Director, Academic Director and Music Director, Virtual Info Nights make it easy to have your questions answered in an informal small-group setting.  Virtual Info Nights are held over Zoom on weekday evenings, periodically throughout the year, and last about an hour.  Check our Events Page for upcoming Virtual Info Nights or schedule directly by contacting or  (510) 652-4722 .

Tours, Shadow Days and Monday Night Dinners

The best way to know whether the Day School at Pacific Boychoir Academy is a good fit for your son, is to visit us.  We call this a ‘Shadow Day’ and we think it’s the best way to get a feel for daily life at our school, the culture of our campus and most importantly, the other students that we hope will make up a new set of peers and friends.  Shadow Days are generally full days starting from our first bell to the end of rehearsal, but can be adjusted according to family needs.  At the beginning of the Shadow Day, families are invited to tour the campus and our Academic Director gives a preview of what to expect.  At the bell, the visiting student is introduced to an Ambassador for the day (usually a student in the same grade) who will guide him through the day.  Shadow Day visitors attend all of the classes they would as an enrolled student, including afternoon music rehearsal. Before and throughout the Shadow Day, parents may discuss questions and concerns with the Executive Director and School Leadership Team.  A second option for visiting our school is to attend Monday Night Dinner and Rehearsal.  Monday Night Dinner is a long-standing tradition at PBA in which music staff, our Varsity Troubador (day school) choir and High School Troubadors break from evening rehearsals to enjoy a meal and community in our Theater.  Monday Nights are a great time for parents to get a feel for the traditions and culture of the school, and offer a chance to hear more about our programs with our Academic Director and Music Directors, to tour classrooms and talk to current students and alumni in a relaxed setting.  Monday Night Dinner can be done before or after Shadow Day.  Either/both can be arranged at or  (510) 652-4722.

   Submit an Application

Ready to apply? Pacific Boychoir Academy uses the FACTS school management system for admissions, enrollment and financial aid.   Applications may be submitted at along with a $35 application fee.  Transcripts from your son’s current school, if available are requested as part of the application process. Most importantly, the application is another window into your family, with questionnaires for both parents and prospective students. We want to know why you think that our school may be the best place for your son, and what we can do to provide the best possible experience for him.  PBA will inform you about our admissions decision within 30 days of submission.

   Academic and Musical Assessment

Applicants to our day school will be invited to return to PBA for a Placement Interview with our Academic and Music Directors. PBA is proud of its small class size and low student-to-teacher ratio.  These factors, in combination with comprehensive assessment, allow us to individualize the academic strategy for each student.  At this stage, parents are encouraged to provide additional information about academic, emotional, and social needs that will help PBA provide the best possible experience for their son.

  Financial Aid

Day School Tuition for the 2023-24 Academic Year is:

  • Elementary School (grades 3-5) – $20,850
  • Middle School – (grades 6-8) – $28,500

While Pacific Boychoir Academy’s tuition is low compared to other Bay Area independent schools, we recognize that tuition is a significant expense for many of our families. We offer financial assistance on a case-by-case basis, partnering with a third-party organization to ensure the equity and confidentiality of your financial data. Based on this analysis,  PBA will make offers of financial aid to each applying family.  Financial aid applications are available through FACTS at
